Abby's Testimonial After Completing Five Weeks at Indigo Light Recovery

Visit: http://www.IndigoLightRecovery.com/

"My name is Abby and Indigo Light Recovery and I have been in 8 recovery programs in less than two years. Living at Kelly's sober living home for five weeks has done what other treatment centers
couldn't do in seven months.
I'm not sure what her secret is, but here are my observations...
Kelly geniunely loved me - she didn't see me as a paycheck, a pity
case, or a lesser person. Granted, no one who runs a recovery program will tell you "you're just a paycheck" - but they don't have to say it out loud, their actions speak louder than their words. Kelly's actions match her words, they even exceed them.
Kelly will get up in the middle of the night for you, fight for you, cry with you. She will listen - REALLY listen - when you're talking to her. She is very dedicated to each client's success.
Kelly's sober living home is not for the ambivalent. If you don't truly want healthy recovery, this is not the program for you. She simply will not give up.
The unique aspect of Indigo Light Recovery lies in Kelly's
understanding of the addicted brain and the impact that nutrition can have on one's recovery. This is not a common approach to
recovery, I cannot think of anywhere or anyone else who you could find but Kelly who can show you the way. Brush off the importance of nutrition if you must, but I'm here to say that following her direction has cured me of 15 years of bulimia, enabled me to go off of cigarettes and Effexor (an antidepressant) without any side effects, not to mention how her love and guidance has given me the emotional stability I need to stay clean
from drugs and alcohol". Abby B., Oregon

Testimonial- A Young Woman Who Suffered from a Binge Eating Disorder

Visit: http://www.RadiantLightRecovery.com

"I am 28 years old and I suffered from a binge eating disorder for 14 years. Nothing could stop me from the vicious cycle of binging and overeating.  I have been to many eating disorder therapists, tried every diet and exercise programs, joined different “Anonymous” groups and nothing could control my eating disorder.  My eating disorder controlled my life and it was a frustrating battle that continuously beat me down and made my life miserable.
Because I live long distance, I decided to do the Radiant Light Recovery Daily Phone Program, and after only three months of working with Kelly Jean, I am completely free from the obsession, my binge foods (sugar and flour products) and the deep depression that caused me to binge. I am finally free! I have been able to put to rest old and toxic relationships and close the chapters to my depressing past.
Through Kelly Jean's support, I am now able to be myself and live a normal life free from binging. I have lost 18 pounds, my skin cleared up and my body is finally balanced. I have relearned how to eat for optimal health and how to balance my brain chemicals.  I have been given a second chance at life and am finally able to accomplish my goals and dreams.
Kelly Jean is my angel who saved my life! I always felt loved even when I didn’t love myself. She walked this journey with me and saved me from a path of suicide, developing a debilitating disease or living miserably with my eating disorder.
Kelly Jean helped me see myself differently and I was able to sort through my whole life and heal my broken soul.  Kelly Jean has helped me to heal spiritually, emotionally and physically and I am forever grateful." R.C., Los Angeles

A Mother's Testimonial

"I believe, with all my heart, that without Kelly's work in my daughter Abby's life, she would be back on the streets today.
Instead my daughter is the picture of good health - she is radiant and determined.  For many years she struggled with a crippling eating disorder and then compounded it with a meth and later heroin addiction.  She has been in prison, she has been on the streets, she has been through many in-patient and out-patient programs for drugs and also some for eating disorders.  I would caution people to scrutinize any eating disorder program they might put their child in as they don't all live up to their reputations and now I am sure that the only approach that worked for my daughter is different from the typical approach we found in the other programs, including one at a well know hospital.
My daughter is brilliant and intense - willful and tends to be arrogant in thinking she knows more than other people.
She has learned about "thinking errors" through different programs which has helped her but she needed someone like Kelly who was relentless in calling her to honesty, integrity, transparency and disciplined thinking.  She had to learn that even though Kelly is fun, smart and loving, she is not weak - she sees through the crappy reasoning and manipulation.  My daughter was a master of manipulation, hopefully she will continue to work on not using that particular talent!
My daughter has been to other programs that were very expensive and impressive looking, but she was very quick to find the dishonesty and disfunction inside the closed doors. Some if not many of these programs are staffed by people who have been addicts themeselves and are only clean for a very few years.  Even though people are clean it takes many years of growth and counseling to work with new addicts in healthy ways and behave in a professional manner.  (Kelly has been clean and sober for 24 years and if you know her you will observe that she lives what she teaches, passionately.)
The other programs admitted that they honestly didn't know how to help Abby because she came with such a complex of issues - they advertised that they did, but couldn't follow through. The good part however was that one of them did find Kelly for us and sent our daughter to her knowing they couldn't help. We will always honor that.
What we also appreciated was how Kelly maintained close communication and respectfully made us apart of the journey and was prompt and thoughtful in returning our calls regarding our concerns or questions. That rarely happened in any other treatment facility.
My daughter was scared to eat the way Kelly wanted her to - sure she would be fat and miserable.  Now my daughter explains to you why you need to eat this way and goes into the chemistry of how the body and brain works in combination with healthy fats, this complex carbohydrate and that protein or whatever!  It's over my head!  But it gave my daughter the realization that she could still have control over her body and have great health and look amazing because of her hair and skin and muscle tone in response to Kelly's teaching.
Now it is up to my daughter to continue making the right choices - but this time she is thinking differently and it's based on actual facts as well as solid good counseling.  With Kelly we have true hope for our daughter and her future - We know that if our daughter returns to her old ways of thinking (which we don't think she will) we will have done everything in our power to give her the best chance - That is the piece that makes the entire investment so worth it.  A family has to have the peace of mind that they at least did the best they could in getting their loved one help. She is off all medication and thriving. She has been given all the tools she needs and the nutritional and discipline from Kelly has absolutely provided the missing piece. We are at peace.
It's not easy to be in her program.  She's intense and intensly devoted.  NOTHING less would have worked with our daughter.  It's a boot camp for changing the way you think about food, exercise and living in the light but there's much laughter, fun and love sprinkled throughout.  Our family is filled with gratitude for what Kelly has been able to accomplish with our daughter and for the love with which she approaches everything she does.  She is incredibly rare. We are incredibly encouraged."

Abby's Testimonial

"Today begins my fifth day of transformation bootcamp. Thus far I have only had the urge to smoke one time, a very mild urge that quickly passed when Kelly intervened wih a brief meditation. I had no idea that quitting the habit that had made me it's slave could be so painless! I have to believe that the lifestyle I'm living here, via Kelly's gentle guidance, is making all the difference. I have been sleeping an average of nine hours a night, down from the twelve hours I logged on my exhausted first day here. My energy feels like it's gaining momentum everytime I wake up. One surprising phenomenon I am experiencing is intense night sweats. Even when I napped the second day, I woke up drenched! I remember hearing at another eating disorder treatment that this is a sign of a metabolism that is reving into high gear, as a result of the body's response to finally being nourished. I never experienced this "reving" of which they spoke at the time, but here at Indigo Light Recovery it's a different story.

I was also surprised to find that I was able to immediately stop taking my very high doses of perscription sleep aid and mood stabilizer with absolutely no adverse effects or increase in symptoms. In fact, I haven't had any symptoms at all. This is very surprising indeed. I've been diagnosed with PTDS and Generalized Anxiety Disorder to the degree that I would have expected to need medication for the rest of my life. At the same time, I am in the process of coming off of Effexor. This is a very difficult drug to withdrawl from. I was terrified to even try it, but I've only been taking half my regular dose since I arrived and thus far the transition has proved seamless.

When I first arrived here, I was full of fear. When I came to California, I was injecting heroin and methamphetine in gargantuan amounts. I was literally dying, having had my first seizure and near fatal overdose in the third week of December. I began treatment at another rehabilitation center up north on December 23rd. Soon after my successful detox, the sensitive staff there recognized that my bulimia necessitated a level of care that exceeds their expertise. When I arrived at Indigo Light Recovery in Oceanside, I was understandably exhausted. This would mark my seventh treatment center in the last two years! Had Kelly's approach towards recovery resembled any of those former treatment models, I believe my growing cynism would have prevented my surrender to her methods. Giving up my coping mechanisms (bulimia and smoking), my medications, relocating to a strange city, and eating in a way that felt counterintuitive (ADDING fat to meals?) all required me to put a great deal of faith in this process. I remember Kelly asking me that first day, "Can you trust me?" I decided that I could. So far she has yet to steer me wrong. I could go into many more details, but who wants to hear about my formerly impacted bowels?" - Abby

Facing and Overcoming Depression the Natural Way

The dark side is the side that most everyone goes to any lengths to avoid. Successful recovery from any addiction requires a willingness to face those dark feelings and descend down into the depths of ones self. This often may feel like "the dark night of the soul" or may feel like depression and it is the very experience most people will go to any lengths to avoid feeling. I consider this to be a very sacred time for anyone going through it yet for someone newly in recovery who has never understood it as being a very powerful time or has never been properly supported through it, they may feel unable to "weather the storm".
When facing all aspects of her life in recovery, these journeys down in are inevitable and the timing in which they occur is unpredictable. Where the source of these feelings are often times related to past or present events, childhood traumas, etc... there are also some other physiological reasons that play a huge role in these feelings of depression and darkness.
Research has proven that people with addictions are extremely sugar sensitive and have lower levels of Beta-endorphin and Serotonin and suffer from adrenal fatigue. Many recovery programs are not educated on this therefore are not addressing ways to naturally balance  these physiological issues through specific nutrition, lifestyle, exercise, proper supplements and ways to naturally build up the amino acids in the body.
At Radiant Light Recovery I address all of these issues and provide a very thorough program so that my clients become educated and self empowered on how to apply the information and live it in a supportive environment. By the time they are ready to go out on their own they will be able to continue this new way of life and are set up for successful recovery with less chance of relapse.
As for the emotional factors that play a part in her depression, I am there to hold the space for each woman and provide profound love and support so that as she confronts those deepest stories of herself and her life (that for so many years she has judged and buried under her addictions), she may finally allow them to have a voice, free herself from her judgement of them and open up to some new fresh and loving perspectives.
When a person in recovery is willing to open up to this level of rigorous honesty, they will finally have the profound experience of unconditional love for themself and an overall sense of personal renewal.
And finally, I say to all of you who want recovery and who are stepping into recovery:
These emotional and physiological aspects of recovery are necessary in order for you to free yourself from depression and from your addictions and here is the really really cool part...you will begin to feel the "real" magic of life within you and all around you! When you begin to feel more and more of this "real" magic, it will become clear to you that this is what you have been trying desperately to feel through all of your addictions yet now you will understand that no amount of alcohol, drugs or food could ever compare to its incredible lasting effects.
At Radiant Light Recovery I celebrate you and reflect to you all of the reasons that you are to be celebrated so that you suddenly understand and discover the magnificent person you really are!
Are you ready to feel the magic of you and the magic of life? You don't have to do this alone...just reach out and surrender.

Daily Phone Support with Kelly Jean

The daily phone support plan is wonderful for my clients who go through the 30 day full time live-in plan and want continued support after stepping back into the day to day challenges in their everyday lives. It is also great for people who live long distance or are unable to afford the full time structured live-in plan at Radiant Light Recovery
The daily phone support system has proven to be another very powerful way for me to speed up women's progress in their recovery. Often times, women leave rehabilitation or recovery home programs without daily support and end up having to step back into all of the old dynamics that before, had so easily triggered their addictions. Just a few examples of the many day to day practical issues that I help women with would be their daily nutrition, exercise regiment and matters having to do with jobs and careers.
Some of the more common issues that are so difficult to deal with in general and especially for people who are newly in recovery are relationship dynamics with family, friends and romantic partners. Relationships of all types are so powerful and may trigger many core emotions, such as, anger, rage, jealousy, insecurity, sadness and grief etc... I work with women on first identifying the emotions then helping them to be present with their emotions in a nonjudgmental and loving way. I share with them new and powerful ways of communicating, setting boundaries and standing up for themselves. I empower women and help them to become clear in identifying those relationships in their life that are toxic so that they may choose to let them go and make room for healthy, loving friends and partners. Relationships can feel very complicated when dealing with them on your own. I show women in recovery new healthy and loving ways to nurture themselves so that they may feel more calm and hopeful in the midst of challenging times.

"The phone consultations have been a positive and most helpful tool in my recovery. I am not able to leave my home and live at Radiant Light Recovery because I live in another city, however, I am able to receive the same tools and support in my own home! Through Radiant Light Recovery's daily phone program, Kelly Jean helps me overcome daily obstacles and gives me the support and the positive encouragement to deal with life. I am experiencing so much healing emotionally, spiritually and physically and have been able to make peace with many of my inner demons that have caused me to binge eat. Kelly Jean's love and light has given me so much hope and inspiration and I am ready to put an end to my eating disorder.
Kelly Jean helps me realize the source and the root of why I binge and has helped me look at the journey of recovery as being a gift and the path to the healthy and powerful woman I truly am".  R.C., Los Angeles
